About Us

An organization born from personal experience

Our Story

The International League of POW/MIA Families of the War in Ukraine (ILPMF) was founded by Marc Mazerolle, father of Patrick Mazerolle, a foreign volunteer who fell in combat in Ukraine.

Faced with the uncertainty, pain, and lack of support experienced by many families around the world, he created the ILPMF so that no family would be left alone when dealing with the disappearance, captivity, or loss of a loved one.

Founded by Marc Mazerolle, the father of Patrick Mazerolle, a foreign volunteer who lost his life in Ukraine, the ILPMF was created from a deeply personal experience and a commitment to ensure that no family faces uncertainty, loss, or unanswered questions alone. Created by a family for families.

Today, we work to connect families, advocate for transparency, promote international cooperation, and provide support to those searching for information about their loved ones.

Our Mission

The ILPMF aims to represent the families of military and civilian volunteers from abroad who are engaged in Ukraine, as well as all citizens who support this cause. Our mission is to encourage governments, humanitarian organizations, and relevant authorities to make concrete, coordinated, and sustainable efforts to get the most complete information possible about volunteers who are missing, prisoners of war, or deceased in Ukraine. We believe that every family deserves answers, the truth, and the chance to bring their loved one home.

Our Vision

We envision a world where every family receives answers, every missing person is searched for with dignity, and every prisoner of war is treated in accordance with international humanitarian law.

Through cooperation, compassion, and advocacy, we aim to become a trusted international voice for families affected by the consequences of war.

Why We Exist

Families of prisoners of war, missing people, and fallen volunteers often face overwhelming uncertainty. Many struggle to obtain reliable information, understand complex procedures, or find emotional support during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

The ILPMF exists to provide guidance, resources, and a sense of community for those facing these challenges.

We believe that every family deserves respect, support, and access to information.

Our Founder

Marc Mazerolle

Founder and President

Marc Mazerolle founded the International League of POW/MIA Families of the War in Ukraine (ILPMF) following the loss of his son, Patrick Mazerolle, who served as a foreign volunteer in Ukraine.

Through his personal journey, Marc came to understand the profound uncertainty, emotional hardship, and practical challenges faced by families searching for information about loved ones affected by war.

Determined to transform that experience into meaningful action, he established the ILPMF as a humanitarian initiative dedicated to supporting families of prisoners of war, missing persons, and foreign volunteers. His vision is to build a trusted international network where families can find support, resources, advocacy, and a sense of solidarity during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

Today, Marc continues to lead the organization with a commitment to compassion, cooperation, and the pursuit of answers for families around the world
